List and Description of Meetings

Important note: General meetings are no longer where bands can propose shows. Please see the Booking meeting below for more details on that. (Booking meetings are Wednesdays at 7pm on Zoom only).

General Meetings: Mondays at 7pm (until 9-10pm)
Where: in person at the space and on Zoom.

This is the meeting where general members meet to make decisions and discuss the maintenance and running of the Che Cafe. By attending these meetings you are a general member. General members get a vote in our process, and can help decide how the space is run, which events happen and which don't, and where to focus our resources. Decisions are made via unanimous consensus, so every voice matters. It is also necessary if you want to become a core member and supervise your own events to participate in these meetings on a fairly regular basis.

Note: Sometimes due to an event a Monday meeting might be moved either to Sunday or Tuesday. If that's the case, it would be written on our Calendar in the "Calendar" tab. It would still be at 7pm.

Subcollective Meetings

Subcollectives are smaller groups of people within the collective who want to work on a particular facet of the collective. They usually meet separately and bring their proposals, findings, updates and plans to a General Meeting on the following Monday at 7pm (see above). No decisions are made at these subcollective meetings, but proposals are drafted. All Subcollective Meetings are on Zoom only, We always use the same Zoom room.

Booking Subcollective Meeting: Wednesdays at 7pm (until we finish)

This group works on answering the many emails we get from bands all over the world who want to play at our space. They communicate with bands and try to organize proposals for shows. Anyone is free to attend this meeting to pitch ideas. Drop in if you want to get involved!

Kitchen Subcollective Meeting: as needed (see calendar for exact dates)

This group works toward the goal and eventual maintenance of our vegan kitchen! The goal is to have the kitchen up and running during regular hours, and to sell and make vegan food on a regular basis. Drop in if you want to get involved!

Mutual Aid Subcollective Meeting: Friday at 12pm

This group works on projects like the community fridge, food and donation distribution, the space's open hours, and other related mutual aid projects. Drop in if you want to get involved!

Social Media Subcollective Meeting: as needed (see calendar for exact dates)
This group works on general strategies and planning related to the collective's social media presence. This group could also work on promotion of events, mutual aid projects, volunteer outreach, and any other aspect of the space that requires promotion. Currently this group does not meet regularly.

Garden Subcollective Meeting: as needed (see calendar for exact dates)
This group is working on beautifying the space in front of the building and in the courtyard with plants of various kinds! This is the ONLY subcollective meeting that happens in person, so stop by if you're interested in learning to garden.

Practice Space Subcollective Meeting: as needed (see calendar for exact dates)
This is a long term project to get a practice and studio space up and running for students and community members who need a place to create their art. If you're interested in helping to get this project off the ground, stop by!

Finance Subcollective Meeting: 2nd Tuesday of the month at 5:30pm
This group works on budgeting, tax filing, maintaining our non-profit status, sellers permit, and making sure everything we do is running smoothly on the financial side of things. Drop in if you want to get involved!

Policy Subcollective Meeting: as needed (see calendar for exact dates)
This group works on codifying new policies, guidelines and rules that we agree on at our general meetings. Drop in if you want to get involved!

Education Subcollective Meeting: as needed (see calendar for exact dates)
This group hypothetically works on projects like educational workshops, history tours, archival projects, the zine collection, scanning, printing, and distribution. Currently this group does not meet regularly.

Maintenance Subcollective Meeting: as needed (see calendar for exact dates)
This group hypothetically works on projects related to the physical maintenance, repair, or general betterment of the space. Currently this group does not meet regularly.

 

 

Clearnesses

Sometimes we also have a clearness after the agenda portion of our meeting, but only when someone needs to discuss a specific issue, or if someone is either leaving the collective, or wants to become core. These will be on our calendar in the Calendar tab. Clearnesses are just special one-off meetings with a particular topic or purpose.

These meetings can be long. You are free to come for only certain parts of the meeting, or to leave early if you have to. Please do whatever you are comfortable with. We will not be mad if you have to go early to study or sleep!
